Cinderella’s First-Ever 4K Steelbook Artwork Receives Release Date From Disney

Disney is reissuing the animated classic in celebration of its 100th birthday.

For the 100th anniversary of Disney, Cinderella is being resurrected from the company’s vaults. For its anniversary, the House of Mouse is releasing a unique selection of re-releases, featuring works from its divisions Lucasfilm, Marvel, and Pixar. The new Cinderella 4K SteelBook was originally seen by Comic Book Resource, and it brings back fans the nostalgic charm of the film.

The Fairy Godmother initially gives Cinderella her ball gown in the scene at the top of the cover. On the steps at the back of the book is the recognizable glass slipper. Inside the Steelbook, which depicts the first time Prince Charming and Cinderella meet at the ball, the actual enchantment may be seen. Cinderella will be made available for purchase on a 4K Ultra HD DVD for the first time with the Steelbook release as well.

Cinderella was Disney’s 12th animated film to be published. As the studio’s biggest hit, it then exceeded the fame and records of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The 1950 animated film, based on Charles Perrault’s 1697 fairy tale of the same name, stars Rhoda Williams, James MacDonald, Luis van Rooten, Don Barclay, Eleanor Audley, Ilene Woods as Cinderella, Verna Felton as the Fairy Godmother, and Eleanor Audley as the stepmother.

With its fantastic tunes, the movie went on to become a huge box office hit and even launched some trends that the business still relies on today. Cinderella, the second Disney princess, provided one of the first on-screen makeovers ever with her famed glass slippers, silver gown, haircut, and rags-to-riches metamorphosis, enthralling audiences across the world. Although the character has seen several versions over the years, the charm of the original animated classic is unmatched.

Recently, Disney has begun adapting its timeless fairy tales for a modern audience. The Disney Princesses are leading the way and are no longer helpless damsels in need thanks to films like The Little Mermaid, and Peter Pan and Wendy. The latest live-action adaptation of Cinderella, starring Lily James as the title character, Richard Madden as Prince Kit, and Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine, was released in 2015. It was the tenth highest-grossing movie of 2015 overall. Billy Porter, a 2021 adaption by Universal starring Idina Menzel and Camila Cabello as the titular character in their acting debuts, was the most popular musical film of the year, although reviewers were unimpressed.

On August 1, Disney’s Cinderella Steelbook will be available. The trailer is provided below:
